Formerly affiliated with Studio Gao, joined alongside former Dove employees Ryoutarou Akao and Kazuhiro Ono.
Mentored by Akira Takahashi at Dove, stayed in touch after leaving the studio.
Changed his name from 石川哲也 to 石川てつや around 2007 to better differentiate between his and the older animator's credits.
Note: Not to be confused with an older animator with the same name Tetsuya Ishikawa.
