Hideto Takarai, better known as HYDE, is a Japanese musician, vocalist, lyricist, record producer, actor and voice actor. He is best known as the vocalist for the rock band L'Arc~en~Ciel, as well as for the band Vamps. In the band L'Arc~en~Ciel he stylized his name as hyde, while in his solo projects and in the band Vamps he stylized it as HYDE. He is currently active in the band L'Arc~en~Ciel (1991–) under the name HYDE (2001–), while also a member of Vamps (2008–2017), who are currently on hiatus.
